Pluto Fest & Fall Food Truck Festival, Streator

I attended Streator’s Pluto Fest / Fall Food Truck Festival and spent about 90 minutes soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. The event was a fantastic showcase of community spirit, with a big and diverse audience that truly reflected the area’s cultural richness. The energy was infectious, amplified by loud and fun live music that kept the crowd engaged throughout, and lots of children’s laughter thanks to all the games set up for them.

One of the highlights was the incredible variety of food trucks and vendors. From savory to sweet, the offerings were diverse and delicious, with something for every palate. We have some but not all the amazing Food Trucks on our graphic below.

INFO: At Moss and Ink local, we celebrate the beauty of nature, local beauty and creativity, and our new Fern Leaf Rating System reflects that spirit! Inspired by the lush, eight-leafed fern in our logo, we rate local events, restaurants, businesses and more on a scale of 1 to 8 fern leaves. Each leaf represents a step toward perfection – from a single sprout in need of sunlight to a radiant, thriving fern in full bloom. Whether it’s a cozy spot for lunch or an event in town, our fern leaves capture how much it makes our hearts grow. Explore our reviews and see how many leaves your favorites earn!

I noticed multiple EMT crews either stationed or stopping by for a bite, which added a reassuring presence, though I was surprised by the complete absence of police presence—not even an empty cruiser as a deterrent. (Interestingly, I later saw five empty cruisers at the police station parking lot and one at the open gate to the station’s garage.)

Another standout was the live mural painting, which was absolutely stunning to watch unfold. The artist’s skill brought a dynamic visual element to the event.

However, I noted that all flags were at full mast during my visit, though I later observed they were lowered to half-mast by 2:30 PM.

CORRECTION: The late lowering of the flags was due to an oversight and the city corrected the issue, and apologized for the mistake to a source of Moss and Ink that brought it to their attention.

Overall, Pluto Fest and the Food Truck Festival was a lively, well-executed celebration with great food, music, and art. My only suggestion would be a visible police presence for added security, but it didn’t detract from the fantastic experience.

I’d highly recommend this event to anyone looking for a fun, community-driven outing!
